What are dermal fillers?
As we age our skin loses elasticity and the supporting Collagen from beneath the surface. With less Collagen our skin becomes thinner and lines, wrinkles, and folds develop.
Dermal fillers are non surgical cosmetic treatments used to bring a more youthful appearance by restoring volume or fullness to the face and lips by plumping and firming. Fillers have an immediate corrective effect on wrinkles and ageing, in a natural way. Dermal fillers gives us the chance to re-create our former facial contours and to subtly enhance check bones and lips.

What are Dermal fillers made of?
The products we use are non permanent and are made of Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic Acid is found naturally throughout our bodies - it acts as a lubricant and moisturiser. Hyaluronic Acid is clinically produced, so it is not taken from an animal or human source.
Well known brands of Hyaluronic Acid include:
- Restylane - www.restylane.co.uk
- Belotero - www.merzpharma.co.uk
- Juvéderm - www.juvederm.com
These are clear gels or liquids supplied in a single use sterile syringe.
What happens during treatment?
A local anaesthetic cream is applied to the area to be treated, to make the treatment as comfortable as possible, and the filler injected directly into the wrinkle just below the skin. It lifts and fills the line and wrinkle. From the first injection the wrinkle is visible reduced.
After the treatment
Some mild bruising and redness may occur. This may take a few days to vanish. Arnica cream and tablets together with cold compression are effective in aiding a speedy recovery. These symptoms are minor however and will not affect your returning to normal daily life. To maintain the desired effect most clients require two treatments a year.
